Tricks by weight?
When I first started using this app, it was great. Some things even got better over time. However, one change they made is super frustrating. They offer a lot of items by weight, but don’t offer a weight less than a pound. For instance if you want one of the small things of salsa they make, no matter which item you pick, the small or large container, you are getting an entire pound. Usually one small and large container equals 1 lb, by the way. The give the option to select produce by the item, but (most?) items packaged by the store are a minimum of one pound. Another example I got an individually packed treat from the bakery and when my order arrived there were four of them so they would equal 1 pound. If you stalk the app and get a chance to message your grocer to explain you just want one item, they’ll fix it, but if you miss that opportunity you might find yourself with a bucket of pineapple/mango salsa for one 6 oz fillet of fish. Ha! As if you could get fish in an amount less than a full pound. You can’t, I tried. The only answer is I’m going to have to give up this hermit lifestyle and get my own butt to the grocery store.

So much un tapped potential
I use the app to build my shopping list as everyone I know does. However when an item is out of stock or they don’t have the quantity the item is just deleted. There is a message and the list of what was deleted but 98% of the time it’s gone before I realize and no way to view it again. I think there’s an opportunity to handle this differently so items are not completely gone. When I first started using the app over a year ago I loved the idea of keeping my shopping list on the app. This is obviously not part of the design but should be. If an item is out of stock, why not just flag it? Almost 100% of the time when I go to actually place my order, the item is in stock again. So the app apparently is not designed to help you shop and build you list all week. You have to do that somewhere else. It’s only to be used at the moment of placing an order. I see this as a gap and not fully understanding the user needs. This would be a wonderful enhancement. Please make this a user story and add to one of your sprints!

Stop removing items from my cart
Every other app just notes an item out of stock in your cart. This one removes it. It used to have a note at the top and now that’s gone! So I come back after a day and three things are missing from my list but I have no clue what they were. This is maddening. If something is out of stock, LEAVE IT IN MY LIST. Not only the issue of not knowing what’s missing, but also things fall off my list and I can just immediately add them back. So things are often temporarily out but would be restocked before I’m ready to order. I will say I am glad they split the app from amazon, but saw something indicating they may be putting Whole Foods back on the amazon app. NO. Please do not do that.
