App is okay but a huge pain with the newer iPhones

I tried using this with my first a few years ago, but by the time it picked up anything useful, I was already having regular and frequent appointments (being in third trimester) and there were so many other (more accurate) indicators of health (such as movements). This was with an iPhone 6s. I'm 17 weeks along with baby #2 and tried it again, and didn't her anything (as expected), but it was hard to stay anywhere long enough to have heard anything anyway. I have an XS Max and the dang app kept trying to close when I had it lightly pressed to my belly (since mic is roughly near the home bar that you swipe up to close the app). It's very annoying. Also, in case you're thinking it, I'm fairly skinny so it's not like there's a ton of "fat" to have pressed the home bar. Lol! I'm thinking that this new generation of iPhones has significantly reduced this apps' usefulness. I don't know if there's a way around that, but thought I'd give this item of feedback anyway. I think part of the issue with hearing the heartbeat using this thing is all the static. At least with a doppler and a few tutorials on YouTube, it's much easier to differentiate sounds. That said, I'm glad that I just ponied up for a small doppler on Amazon. Really I just use these things for fun anyway, as just hearing a heartbeat doesn't give a comprehensive picture of fetal health (so actual major concerns should be brought up to a medical professional immediately).

    Doesn’t work for me

Even laying on my back OR on my side in a quiet room, with the case off I still don’t hear anything but quiet static. Nothing that even resembles a heart beat. Even listened to the sound examples and no matter where I hold my phone or for how long, I never hear anything. Plus, Apple charged me TWICE! Kinda disappointed

    Works at 31 weeks!

I bought this app with very low expectations but to my surprise it works pretty well! The sound quality isn’t amazing but it isn’t at the doctors office either... So fun to listen when feeling anxious. The sound also woke the baby right up so if you’re searching for movement it works for that as well!

My Baby’s Beat offers a beautiful way for you to bond with your baby during pregnancy. Listen to the fetal sounds in the womb, hear the baby’s heart beat and be as close to him/her as possible.
With My Baby’s Beat, you can hear your baby’s heartbeat and other fetal sounds in the uterus, and you can do it at home, at your own relaxed environment with just your mobile device. You can record the fetal sounds and share it with your loved ones.
“My Baby's Beat” was the first app to pick up fetal heartbeat sounds using a breakthrough technology. Since it was launched in 2011 it kept improving and constantly maintaining its lead in both popularity and innovation. Since 2011 it has been used by over 1 million parents worldwide!
Unlike a fetal doppler or other fetal heartbeat monitors, My Baby’s Beat requires no special accessories. It uses the microphone of your mobile device to pick up the sounds in the uterus and the fetal heartbeat.
Finding the baby’s heartbeat is sometimes a challenging task and requires time and patience. For best results we recommend the following:
* Use My Baby’s Beat on the 3rd trimester of your pregnancy, as the baby gets bigger, and the fetal heartbeat sounds is stronger and easier to find (best after 30 weeks).
* Follow our help section, watch the tutorial video and listen to the sound samples to know what to expect.
* Contact our support with any question or inquiry, we’re here to guide you and do our best to help.
The app does not use any communication such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or cellular. It passively uses the device's internal microphone to pick up the sounds, therefore it is recommended for use in airplane mode.
