    No frills, just good racing!

There is a lot more here than meets the eyes fans! I am so glad to have stumbled upon this game! There is so much junk out there. II’m quite the gearhead, and I’m always searching for racing games with great physics, challenging AI, short on ads, no ‘gas points’ (which keeps you out on the track longer). I found “Apex Chase”! Not the best graphics ever, but a fair selection of cars make up for that. There’s not much for tweakers and tuners to tool with, but if you like a good, realistic feel, accurate, and authentic engine sounds to go with your racing experience, then the graphics really mean not that much. No multiplayer. (Yet [?]). Obviously, this game would rock ‘floorboard as the cruise control’ if there were multiplayer gaming. (Maybe passing a license course to attain ‘multiplayer status’ Things like apex, braking, shifting, passing, holding the line, etc... Another shortcoming is the position of the Speedo/tach/gear cluster. You have to take your eyes off the road to see which gear you're in. Should be a tap and drag positioning option, allowing movement of tachometer. I prefer lower dead center screen. This game has passed my critical try-out! It cuts muster! It’s simple, straight- forward, not a lot of convoluted adjustments to babysit. Anybody with any racing app finesse can reign in the car to work for them. Customization consists of a dozen or so colors in gloss or matte. Rims are paintable also. That covers customization. Upgrades consist of engine, gearbox, brakes, suspension, tires, and weight. All are three tiers to max, except engines, which gives you “tier X” which is the top upgrade to engine. I’m not a shill for the devs, I’m pointing out a great racing game that needs more exposure to phone racers. I read some negative comments about this game that I feel I must iron out. First of all, kudos to the devs for getting it right! “Apex Chase” is powered by a very reliable, and well trusted physics engine, IMHO. In the description the dev states, ‘...makes you a better racer...’. It does! Look, the Corolla, it’s a tad twitchy. With max tires, 2 tier suspension, and tier 1 engine upgrade, you got yourself a rather competitive car, really. I find nothing wrong with the steering response, after I adjusted my steering “ratio”. If you want to fine tune your steering, here’s another secret: try racing with the phone tilted more towards the horizontal plane (anywhere from 22.5 deg, to 90 deg. [Vertical]) No problems with shifting either. Anticipate the “throw”(longer throw shifters obviously take longer to engage. (It’s an “ear/hand coordination thing. Shift up before red line, downshift prior to brakes. Sometimes “two footing the gas and brake helps scrub speed while keeping your engine under load, resulting in quicker acceleration in the exits of turns. There’s a work-around for some handling/shifting issues, you just need to dabble a bit to find the right combo. I run on manual transmission, so I rely heavily on my engine to do a lot of the braking for me, (downshifting) it keeps the front tires from locking up in the turn entries. If you go in settings, under controls, there is a 12 setting slider to ‘dial-in’ your steering ‘ratio’ (sensitivity). If it’s too lazy, or the front wheels do not ‘zero’ fast enough, slide up to 6. Great game!!! Thanks!

This game had lots of potential

That being said even after the up date the handling of the cars need to a little more adjustments . Specifically the brakes(the brakes just lock up like there is no abs and throws you into a understeer even with the best tire and suspension).Downshifting whenever you downshift it make your car oversteer no matter what the rpms is at it needs to be able to heel and toe so it doesn't lose traction all the time or be able to control the weight of the car better and more precise, and if the where a option to adjust and fine tune the cars would be awesome(suspension, gear ratios, lbs. of boost, timing of motor, etc.)
