New app ruins previous map
I updated to new app in Sept 2020 and now I can’t zoom out of map to make it useable and worse, my existing map had incorrect changes made to it and I can’t run S9 correctly now (even though there is supposed to be no way to change a smart map unless you replace with a clean map). Customer service told me this is known issue for some customers and were no help. Have to delete map and redo. Very frustrating. This app also incorrectly states that your map is “Lasted updated” after every job you run but this is not correct per customer service. I think iRobot does this to mislead customers into thinking maps are being updated when they aren’t. The only way to update a smart map is to replace with a clean map or create one through training. By the way don’t try to create a new map through training runs while keeping the existing map of the same area. The new map will get automatically deleted because it sees it is similar to existing map. I wasted 2 days of training runs to find this out from customer service. iRobot does not explain this anywhere. Don’t waste your money on iRobot, any efficiency you think you will gain is lost from troubleshooting and their customer service is not good. Update: because IRobot responded to this review I will just note that I had already spent weeks with customer service and they are unable to fix and admitted the app update caused problems. So @iRobot dont send these meaningless generic responses to reviews for marketing purposes, own up to your products mistakes and fix them (and replace your entire customer service team)!

How about Apple Watch support?
I only got my robot a week ago so I’m not sure how useful my opinion is but so far I’m pleased. I’m a little skeptical that it’s worth the much higher price. It would be great if I had the basic controls on my watch. Update: Now that I’ve had it awhile I’m learning the long term costs for filters, bags and brushes. Add that to the original cost and hiring a cleaning lady might have been a better idea. The initial map it generated was close but not perfect. I deleted and started fresh, bad idea. After 5 - 6 to 8 hour mapping runs it still gets lost, doesn’t update history, sometimes can’t find home and misses large parts of rooms. I’ve gone from 4 to 2 stars and dropping fast. I actually bought a second for another floor before I realized all of that.

Smart Mapping Failure
The app misleads you to think your mapping capable Roomba will eventually be able actually create a map it can use to better control your Roomba. It won’t. Yet the “favorites coming soon” message remains there in your face as a reminder that all the money you spent for mapping wasn’t the right kind of mapping. If it wasn’t so irritating it would be funny. I wouldn’t recommend the Roomba or iRobots to anyone.
